What Is Fury Platinum?

Fury Platinum New England (FPNE) is a regional arm of the Fury Platinum family, focused specifically on developing and promoting advanced softball athletes from the Northeast area. Established to serve as a key part of our nationwide network, FPNE offers athletes in this region a high-level platform to compete, grow, and be recognized by college programs across the East Coast and beyond.

At its core, Fury Platinum is about strategic player development and exposure. Like other elite national programs, we bring a proven system that supports the growth of college-bound athletes, offering structured training, competitive scheduling, and access to a broader network of recruiting resources.

The world of softball and college athletics is constantly evolving. By aligning with our national organization and sharing knowledge across regions, FPNE helps ensure that New England athletes stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing game.

Our model not only strengthens the level of play in the Northeast, but it also increases recruiting visibility for regional athletes, making Fury Platinum New England a smart, strategic choice for players who are serious about their future in the sport.

The best time to join is 14U, especially if college softball is your goal. This gives athletes time to develop, start building a recruiting resume, and gain experience to prepare for key showcase years. That said, it's never too late—players who join at 16U and 18U, have successfully been recruited through our program. What matters most is your commitment, skill level, and visibility during the prime recruiting windows (typically 8th–11th grade).

Our coaches work with athletes at every age to guide them through the recruiting process and get them seen by the right programs.

Players are welcome from any location, but each team’s “home base” is determined by the coach’s preferred practice area. Fury Platinum teams are structured to support athletes on a regional scale, so travel distance should not be a limiting factor — we make it work. Practices are typically held on weekends at outdoor fields, with indoor winter training held at various sites, including our own facility, H.I.T. Center of RI, where every Fury player receives a full membership.

When trying out for any team, focus on the schedule — not a fancy-sounding name. The schedule should match the player’s long-term goals, and it has little to do with what the team is called. If a team’s schedule doesn’t consistently place the player among athletes with similar aspirations, it’s probably not the right fit. Team names loaded with adjectives (gold, silver, elite, premier, select, futures, national, regional, etc.) can be misleading in travel softball. In reality, teams are best understood by their roster makeup, schedule, and commitment history rather than a title. Below, you will find how Fury Platinum defines the 3 primary groups of travel softball teams:

  • National Team

    • Typically 5+ Division I prospects/commits and several Division II prospects.

    • The entire roster expects to play college softball and pursues that goal.

    • Competes at the highest level with no geographic limits.

    • Always qualifies for and attends a top national tournament (Alliance, Triple Crown, USA Gold, or PGF).

    • Requires significant financial investment.

    • True “National” teams are rare, despite how often the label is used. Recruitment depends more on schedule and coach connections than the team name.

    Regional Team

    • The entire roster are legitimate college prospects (any division).

    • Recruitment-focused, competing in the top tournaments within one U.S. region.

    • May qualify for and attend a top national tournament (Alliance, Triple Crown, USA Gold, or PGF).

    • More cost-conscious, prioritizing exposure in the strongest regional events.

    • FPNE requires all teams to operate at least at this level each year.

    Local Team

    • Focuses on bracket/rec tournaments in a drivable area.

    • Lower cost and investment in development.

    • Limited college recruitment guidance - this may not be the team’s goal.

    • May occasionally enter showcase events, but will not have top field placement.

    • Often labeled “Showcase” teams.

    • FPNE does not field Local teams at the 16U/18U levels.

How many teams does Fury Platinum New England carry?

There is no set number, but in general, however many teams can field highly competitive schedules is how many teams we’ll have per year. Due to the dynamic nature of travel softball, teams fielded may change each year. FPNE does not have a quota, which means we will not throw a team together just to have a team. Fury Platinum is recognized for its ‘quality over quantity’ approach to team building, and this is recognized by college coaches. All levels have a like-minded, highly competitive focus. Each season we start with the goal of fielding one team per division, evaluate the roster composition, and proceed accordingly to determine if multiple teams in a division make sense from a competitive standpoint.

Do you have connections for girls to get recruited?

We do. Fury Platinum is constantly building relationships with college programs to spark connections with our players and families. We have successfully assisted players into D1, DII, and DIII programs. The Fury Platinum organization as a whole has seen over 250 of its players go on to play in college (see our Alumni page here), and our incredibly connected Platinum staff has built relationships across the country for well over 20 years, particularly on the East Coast and including the Northeast. Our Northeast teams and coaches have earned the respect and attention of college programs that trust our talent development and strength of schedule to prepare our athletes for college softball. However, having organizational connections is not a magic ticket. Recruiting is a holistic process that involves many parts working together over time. Fury Platinum advises players and families on how to help themselves first, which is crucial to making those connections easier. FPNE does not make claims or assurances about player recruiting. Beware of organizations that do.

Our value proposition is simple: to provide a competitive team environment that brings out the best in each athlete, a proven framework to follow in the recruiting process, an emphasis on valuable exposure events, and to help open doors for those who work to earn it. It’s up to the player to execute.
