What is Fury Platinum?
Collectively, Fury Platinum is a nationally recognized travel softball program representing 70 teams in the Eastern half of the U.S. We have earned a reputation as one of the top college prep organizations in the sport over the last 15 years by providing players with the opportunity to compete at the game’s highest levels. Our home website can be found at www.furyplatinum.com.
Like many elite organizations that have built successful models, Fury Platinum brings a game plan for young ladies across the country who are developing college softball prospects. Our Fury Platinum New England (FPNE) teams represent a region of the Fury Platinum family. Together we serve to promote New England softball on an East Coast regional scale. The game of softball and collegiate athletics, in general, is always growing, and we believe sharing ideas, experience, and knowledge from different parts of the country positively affects our area. Integrating these perspectives keeps us ahead of the curve in an evolving sport. FPNE is helping to grow player recruitment for New England players, thus making Fury Platinum a smart option for advanced athletes to gain college recognition.

When is the best time to join fury platinum if i want to play in college?
The earlier the better! We ideally begin the process of educating players and families on the recruiting process in 8th/9th grade, so if your goal is to play college softball, these are the best years to be in uniform. Playing in the organization during middle school (6th/7th Gr) is a great way to prepare yourself for how Fury operates during the recruiting phase and makes the transition easier. During the 8th/9th grade years, we will establish a foundation of skill development, how to market oneself, camp strategies, social media strategy, recruiting rules, etc. If you are a rising 10th or 11th grader, don’t worry, you’re not too late… we just work a little faster.
How do you manage practices?
Players are welcome from anywhere, but your team’s “home base” is determined by the coach’s preferred location. Fury Platinum teams are built to support players on a regional scale, so distance should not be a determining factor when investigating programs; we make it work. Our teams have weekend practice fields and indoor winter training sites available at various locations, including our own facility, to support a team with players across the region. FPNE leadership owns an indoor training center called the H.I.T. Center of RI, where all Fury players have membership.

What Do all these Team Names mean? How do i know when I’m on the right one?
INSIDER TIP: When you try out for any team, ask scheduling questions. The schedule should align with the future goal of the player, and has nothing to do with the team name. If the team’s schedule does not consistently put the player in a pool of athletes with similar goals, it’s not the right team for you. Names of teams with their myriad of adjectives (i.e., gold, silver, elite, premier, select, futures, national, regional, etc.) can be very deceiving in travel softball. We believe teams, regardless of what they’re called, are grouped as follows:
National Team: At minimum, 5+ D1 prospects/commits and just as many D2 prospects. All of the team expects to play college softball, and the team expects all its players to chase that goal. Competes at the highest level of the sport against other National level teams with similar roster compositions, and has no geographical limitations when doing so. Will always (1) qualify for and (2) attend a reputable National tournament; PGF, Alliance, Triple Crown, or USA Gold. Large financial investment. Despite the proliferation of “national team” designations, very few teams meet this standard of play. Some of the best teams in the country call themselves National teams, and rightfully so. But, you do NOT have to be on a team that calls itself “national” to be recruited, you just need the right schedule.
Regional Team: At minimum, 75% of the roster are legitimate college prospects fitting any Division level. Recruitment-focused program, typically playing on top fields in the best tournaments of one U.S. geographical region, always competing at the highest level in that area. May attend a National tournament at the end of summer. Cost-conscious, but seeking the best possible exposure events in a defined region on top complexes. FPNE requires its teams to operate on a Regional level, at minimum, every year.
Local Team: Bracket/Rec tournament focused in a smaller, drivable region. Lower program cost. Little experience in guiding players in college recruitment, but that just may not be the goal of the team/org (which is perfectly fine). Low investment in development. May choose to enter occasionally in higher-level tournaments. Does not participate in National events. Fury Platinum New England will not field Local teams at the 16U/18U levels.
How many teams does Fury Platinum New England carry?
There is no set number, but in general, however many teams can field highly competitive schedules is how many teams we’ll have per year. Due to the dynamic nature of travel softball, teams fielded may change each year. FPNE does not have a quota, which means we will not throw a team together just to have a team. Fury Platinum is recognized for its ‘quality over quantity’ approach to team building, and this is recognized by college coaches. All levels have a like-minded, highly competitive focus. Each season we start with the goal of fielding one team per division, evaluate the roster composition, and proceed accordingly to determine if multiple teams in a division make sense from a competitive standpoint.
Do you have connections for girls to get recruited?
We do. Fury Platinum is constantly building relationships with college programs to spark connections with our players and families. We have successfully assisted players into D1, DII, and DIII programs. The Fury Platinum organization as a whole has seen over 250 of its players go on to play in college (see our Alumni page here), and our incredibly connected Platinum staff has built relationships across the country for well over 20 years, particularly on the East Coast and including the Northeast. Our Northeast teams and coaches have earned the respect and attention of college programs that trust our talent development and strength of schedule to prepare our athletes for college softball. However, having organizational connections is not a magic ticket. Recruiting is a holistic process that involves many parts working together over time. Fury Platinum advises players and families on how to help themselves first, which is crucial to making those connections easier. FPNE does not make claims or assurances about player recruiting. Beware of organizations that do.
Our value proposition is simple: to provide a competitive team environment that brings out the best in each athlete, a proven framework to follow in the recruiting process, an emphasis on valuable exposure events, and to help open doors for those who work to earn it. It’s up to the player to execute.
